TSMC Nanjing Plant officially mass production

时间:2018-12-18

On October 31st, the opening ceremony and mass production ceremony of TSMC (Nanjing), the most advanced wafer foundry in China's process technology, was held in Nanjing. Chairman Liu Deyin attended and delivered a speech. Liu Deyin said that according to the plan of founder Zhang Zhongmou, TSMC Nanjing will be built as an important base for the globalization of TSMC.

The TSMC Nanjing 12-inch plant uses a 16-nanometer process and currently has a monthly capacity of 10,000. It is expected to increase to 15,000 by the end of next year and reach 20,000 in 2020.

Liu Deyin mentioned that the mainland IC design industry has grown rapidly in recent years. The revenue has grown from $3 billion ten years ago to 21 billion US dollars today, and the global market share is 6% from today to 6%. TSMC is honored to be proud of it. Liu Deyin said that the Nanjing Design Service Center built by TSMC will also serve nearby and help the local design industry to grow further. The advanced 16-nanometer process and 12-inch wafer fab will also greatly improve the level of mainland wafer service.

He Limei, chairman of TSMC Nanjing, said in his speech that the mainland semiconductor market is growing rapidly and TSMC's business in the mainland is also growing strongly. Back at the origin of the 12th Fab in Nanjing, TSMC decided to invest in Nanjing at the end of 2015. After 15 months of multi-party research and evaluation, as well as preliminary preparations, TSMC officially signed a contract with the Nanjing Municipal Government on March 28, 2016, and started the grounding on July 7, the same year, and then on September 12, 2017. Hold the entrance ceremony. This time, TSMC Nanjing also broke the record of many TSMCs. The first is to build the factory the fastest. It took only 14 months to move from the ground to the machine. The second is the fastest on the line. Third time, this is the most beautiful, most magnificent and most distinctive TSMC factory. In addition, in order to serve customers closer and better, TSMC's “Open Innovation Platform” ecosystem will be introduced to the mainland to assist mainland IC design companies and grow together into a powerful force in the semiconductor industry.
