Qualcomm Announces the First Batch of Snapdragon X50 5G Baseband OEMs in 2019

On October 22nd, Qualcomm held a 4G/5G summit in Hong Kong to determine the 5G standard and 5G plan. The three major operators in China participated. Now with the latest news, Qualcomm announced the list of OEMs using the Snapdragon X50 5G baseband next year.
 

According to the news, Qualcomm announced at the 4G/5G summit the list of OEMs using the Snapdragon X50 5G NG baseband in 2019, including ASUS, Fujitsu, HMD, HTC, inseego, LG, Motorola, NetComm, NETGEAR, and plus,


OPPO, SHARP, Sierra, SONY, Telit, WNC, WINGTEC, Xiaomi, etc. Among them, partners of 5G pilot projects include Lenovo, OPPO, vivo, ZTE, Xiaomi, Wentai and so on.

 
It is reported that the Snapdragon X50 is Qualcomm's first 5G modem chipset, built on a 28nm process with a peak of 5Gbps. The chipset supports gigabit speed and data connections on the 28GHz millimeter wave band.

Finally, according to the Qualcomm conference, China's current planned 5G frequency band is Sub 6GHz, while the Snapdragon X50 supports mmWave high frequency millimeter wave and Sub 6 GHz intermediate frequency. That means, you don't have to wait until 2020, and start commercialization as soon as next year.
